Matt Renik

Born and raised in Boston, Mathew has been sailing on the Boston Harbor since he was 12. Currently a student at Boston University, Mathew studies Finance and Business law during the off season, aspiring to become an admiralty lawyer. He started teaching on Sonars when he was 14 and has since progressed onto many boats, but the Sonar still holds a special place in his heart. In the past few years Mathew has gained experience racing yachts in the Harbor and Marblehead as well as doing some racing for Boston University.

Philip Zurek

Philip brings sailing experience from an unexpected location: Colorado! He arrived in Boston on the first nice spring day of 2018, went straight to the sailing center, and has been enjoying all that the area has to offer since then. When not cruising around, you can find him teaching (since 2021), Soling racing in the summer, and Frostbite racing in the winter. His goal is to share his knowledge and passion for sailing with every student.

Francois has been with the Sailing Center since 1996. In addition to instructing, he handles all the Center’s sail repair.

Pete Whinn does startup business stuff for a 9-5 grind but spends evenings and weekends (and the occasional beautiful weekday afternoon, don’t tell his boss) teaching Learn to Sail at the Boston Sailing Center.
