Jonathan Kannair

Joining BSC as a member in 1995, Jonathan has been a BSC instructor for eight seasons. Jonathan believes that anyone can become an accomplished sailor and appreciates that sailing is a physical and intellectual challenge you can do for life. Working with new sailors and helping them to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to pursue their sailing adventures is something he especially enjoys doing at BSC.

 He holds a US Coast Guard Captain’s License, Master, 100 GRT, with Sail and Near Coastal endorsements. An American Sailing (ASA) Instructor, he is certified to teach through the Advanced Coastal Cruising level (ASA 106) and has certifications or endorsements to teach Catamaran Cruising (ASA 114) and Docking (ASA 118). He has extensive coastal sailing experience in New England with recent ocean passages to or from New England and the Caribbean and from the Caribbean to Palma, Spain.

Francois has been with the Sailing Center since 1996. In addition to instructing, he handles all the Center’s sail repair.

Philip Zurek

Philip brings sailing experience from an unexpected location: Colorado! He arrived in Boston on the first nice spring day of 2018, went straight to the sailing center, and has been enjoying all that the area has to offer since then. When not cruising around, you can find him teaching (since 2021), Soling racing in the summer, and Frostbite racing in the winter. His goal is to share his knowledge and passion for sailing with every student.
