Emilie’s lifelong love affair with sailing began along the shores of Brittany, France – an exhilarating maritime playground where tidal range can reach 45 feet and currents 9 knots! Childhood vacations were spent exploring the Channel Islands with her parents on a First 32s5, when not embracing the wind on Laser and Moth Europe with her friends.
Her professional path in international development, specializing in energy, led her to live in Mexico for five years and travel (and sail!) to many developing countries in Latin America and Africa. Despite her frequent work-related travels, she never lost her sea legs. While in Dakar, she always found time to sail a Hobie Cat to explore the captivating Gorée Island.
Emilie’s passion extended to teaching, with her husband as her first pupil. Together, they now orchestrate sailing getaways with friends and family along the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts. They also sail their Laser 4000, aptly named “Andale », infusing French waters with a hint of Mexican spirit.
In 2022, she sailed from Corsica, France to the Canaries Island crossing the iconic Strait of Gibraltar! Curious about this 1,500 nautical mile journey? Just ask her, and she’ll happily share tales that could fill hours!
