Chris Allen

A life-long sailor, Chris grew up in New York sailing on Long Island Sound, then moved to Maine and eventually to Boston. He has sailed out of Boston for over 20 years and proudly claims to have set foot on each one of the harbor’s 34 islands. At BSC Chris combines two of his passions–teaching and sailing—and enjoys finding the inner sailor in new students. Working closely with “Amber”, BSC’s distinctively colored 26 foot Soling, he has converted hundreds of Learn to Sail students from novices to confident sailors since joining BSC in 2014. Whether in the classroom or on the water, his love of sailing and enthusiastic teaching approach make learning sailing a “breeze”. He draws inspiration from his work with blind sailors and keeps sharp during the winter months cruising in the Caribbean.

Instructor

Philip Zurek

Philip brings sailing experience from an unexpected location: Colorado! He arrived in Boston on the first nice spring day of 2018, went straight to the sailing center, and has been enjoying all that the area has to offer since then. When not cruising around, you can find him teaching (since 2021), Soling racing in the summer, and Frostbite racing in the winter. His goal is to share his knowledge and passion for sailing with every student.
