Racing Course

$1140 For sailors with little or no racing experience.

This course will teach you the racing rules, boat handling, spinnaker skills, and boat speed needed to be competitive.

Races are videotaped for analysis.

Format - Summer/Fall Soling Racing

This course has several formats, depending on the racing series. Lectures are on weekday evenings, and on-the-water instruction is held on the racing day for the corresponding series. Solings are raced in the Summer and Fall, and J/24's are raced in the winter. 

Summer Racing Course

6 Classroom sessions and 6 on-the-water sessions as a part of our Thursday racing fleet

Classroom sessions are held on 6 consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm. Sailing is part of the Soling Racing series on Thursdays from 5pm to sunset. The class will be split into two teams, which will alternate Thursdays for 6 racing sessions.

Classroom on Wednesdays: 6 consecutive Wednesdays from 6-8pm, starting June 3, 2020.

Racing on Thursdays: Two teams of three alternate Thursdays 5pm-sunset. Register as either "Team A" or “Team B" when enrolling.

This course is currently unavailable due to state restrictions.

Fall Racing Course

6 consecutive classroom sessions are held on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm. On the water instruction takes place as part of the Saturday Racing Series from 9:30am-1:00pm

Classroom on Thursdays: 6 consecutive Thursdays from 6-8pm starting September 10, 2020. 

Racing on Saturdays: 6 consecutive Saturdays from 9am to 1pm starting September 12, 2020.

Format - Winter J/24 Frostbite Racing

Classroom sessions take place on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm throughout the Frostbite season. Sailing is part of the J-24 Frostbite Series on Saturdays from 11:00am to 3:00pm. The class will be split into two teams, which will alternate Saturdays for the entire series. 

Winter Racing Course 2020-2021

If you are new to frostbite racing and don't mind the cooler temperatures, we offer our Racing Class in conjunction with the Frostbite Racing Series! 

Classroom on Thursdays: 6 Thursdays from 6-8pm (These Thursdays are not all consecutive due to holidays)

Racing on Saturdays: Two teams of four alternate Saturdays from November 2020 - March 2021, 11am-3pm (holiday weekends excluded). Register as either "Team A" or Team B" when enrolling. 

*Students who would like to race every weekend can purchase two spots in the course with a double enrollment discount. Contact the office to purchase this option.

Prerequisite: Advanced course with at least two months of practice afterwards or equivalent experience.

Cancelled Sailing Days: We offer more sailing days in the winter class expecting that some Saturdays will be cancelled due to weather. We will not offer on the water make ups unless more than three of your sessions are cancelled within your team assignment.

Discount applied in cart once logged in with your member credentials (if you do not know your credentials - contact the BSC, do not create another account). Discount cannot be combined with other offers. Not applicable to Macro Courses. 

Group Enrollment

Signing up with more than one person? We have a discount for that! Groups of two or more who sign up together for the same course qualify for discounts of 20% off the course fee after one student has purchased the course at full price (in other words, it's full price for the first person and 20% off for each additional person).

To qualify for the group enrollment discount, purchases must be made over the phone. Contact the office at 617-227-4198 to register your group.
