COVID-19 Student Policies

The Boston Sailing Center has developed the following guidelines in accordance with state and local authorities to ensure safe use of the facilities this season. These are in addition to the guidelines that already exist. Our goal is to protect our employees, members and families, while allowing the use of our facilities.

Updated May 26, 2020 This page will be updated throughout the season. Please check back frequently.

Policies for Learn to Sail and Advanced are as follows:

All students must sign the updated waiver electronically before their course starts. This waiver stays on file, so you only have to sign it once for subsequent courses or memberships.

Do not come to the Boston Sailing Center if you have symptoms, someone in your household has Covid-19, or you have been asked to self-isolate or quarantine by your doctor or a health official. We will reschedule your course.

Students must always wear face masks when within 6 feet of others.

Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer before boarding a boat. Use of sailing gloves is encouraged.

Students may use the upstairs bathrooms on the riverboat. Staff will use the bathrooms inside the riverboat.

Drinking water is NOT available at BSC. Please bring your own water.

There is no access to lockers on the riverboat, so only bring the essentials that you do not mind having on the boat with you. If you are worried about things like phones, car keys, etc, a small inexpensive 5L drybag is a great option. They are readily available through amazon, etc.

Should it rain, we do have limited gear for our students to borrow, but it is recommended that you bring your own. A light waterproof jacket and pants are best. Our office team can recommend some good options for you.

Arrive ready to sail. If you arrive earlier than the time designated for your sailing session, please wait off premises in the parking lot or on the seawall.

Access to the riverboat office is limited to appointment only.

Launch service will be restricted to maintain social distancing. The launch will be limited to one group of 4 people going to or from a boat. Please wait for the launch on the sea wall at the top of the gangway if there are others waiting on the dock.

The use of the upper deck of the riverboat is limited to 10 people at a time.

Boston Sailing Center's Cleaning Procedures

Boat will be cleaned before each use. Once a boat is cleaned it will be off limits except for the member who has it reserved.

Interiors will be cleaned with soap and water, and then disinfected with diluted bleach or other disinfectants from EPA List N.

Daysailors and Mid-Range boats will be sprayed with the bleach solution before each use.

Upper deck bathrooms will be available for member use. Members should spray down the bathroom after use with provided bleach solution. Bathrooms will be fogged daily with a disinfectant from EPA List N.
