Eight Bells: Wade Edwards
Our Director, Wade Edwards passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2016 after a battle with cancer.
Wade lived his life with a spirit of possibility; in 2007 he combined his lifelong passion for sailing with his business acumen and purchased the Boston Sailing Center (BSC). As the managing director he tirelessly sought to improve operational efficiency and, above all, the quality of the member experience. BSC, on Lewis Wharf in Boston, is home to 400 members, over 75 sailboats, and countless sailing students of all abilities. Wades positive spirit, management savvy, and love of sailing had a remarkable impact on BSC over the past 9 years. Wade served not only as leader, but an active member of the BSC community. BSC staff and members cherished his sense of humor and enthusiastic participation in Tuesday night summer racing, winter Frostbite racing, and countless events with BSC members and staff. He was deeply loved and respected by the BSC community, who knew him as a true gentleman on and off the water.

New Hanse 400 Added
A new Hanse 400 will be added to the Cruising 40 fleet for the 2012 season. The boat is on order and is scheduled to arrive at our boat yard in March. The new Hanse, which will replace Blue Sky, is an updated design and is similar to the Hanse 375 added to the fleet last year. Both feature dual helms, teak cockpit soles and self tacking jibs. The new design has a narrow keel with a bulb which will improve upwind performance and allow for tighter turns under power. Another change is an additional head in the forward cabin. For more details see the fleet page and the Hanse Website.
