New Women's Soling Racing Series
We're excited to announce the addition of a new Women's Soling Racing series! The series will begin on June 2, and run every other Monday through August 25. Skipper spots are designated for women only, although crew spots are available for both men and women.

Women skippers who already have full crew are invited to purchase a boat (three spots) for the series. The price for BSC members is $500, and $750 for non-members.

For those who want to crew on a per-night basis, the member price is $35, and the non-member price is $45.

Guest speakers will be on hand to give a post-race chalk talk throughout the series, including Ken Legler and others.

Please contact the office for more information or to sign up!

New Beneteau 36.7 joins the fleet

Another New Boat for the Cruising Fleet
We are pleased to announce the addition of a new Beneteau 36.7 to our Cruising 35 fleet. This addition provides additional capacity in the C35 membership which will maintain our high standards for member access to boats during the season, and the boat itself represents an infusion of racing pedigree to the Cruising fleet that will be an exciting addition for many of the members.

Regardless of whether one races or not, the Beneteau 36.7 , designed by Bruce Farr, offers excellent sailing and handling characteristics, combined with a beautiful interior that is suitable for cruising. These factors explain why the boat has become hugely popular throughout the US and the world. While not as spacious down below as the new Beneteau 343s, the 36.7 offers a comfortable interior that is fully functional. BSC will outfit the boat with a chart plotter and electronics, asymmetrical spinnaker, and a roller furling headsail. The boat will be available to members in mid June.

Henri Lloyd Gear
The Boston Sailing Center now offers Henri Lloyd gear and a 15% discount for members. Join us on May 13th for a preview of the full line. Jeff Earl from Henri Lloyd North America will be on hand with gear samples and to answer questions. Complimentary snacks, beer and wine will be provided.

In addition, Soling Racing members can bring their crew and practice before hand. The race committee will be on station for practice starts beginning at 6:00pm. Non racing members can reserve a boat for a quick sail before the event or check out one of our new Beneteau 343s at the dock.

Please contact the office if you plan on attending.

Island Race start.

Frostbite Racing 2008 Results
The 2007-2008 Frostbite Racing season came to a close on Saturday, March 22 with a J-24 Fleet race around the harbor islands, and the Olson-25 Match Race Championships. It was clear and windy, making for excellent (if chilly) conditions for the final day of the Frostbite season. John Powers took 1st in the Island Race, and Connor Hayes (driving for Les Beckwith) captured the Match Racing title, going undefeated in six matches. Former owner Dave Franzel was the overall J-24 Fleet Racing champion for the season. Click here for full results and photos.

Fleet Upgrades for 2008
We are excited to announce the addition of three new boats to our cruising fleet. As a result, cruising members at all levels will have access to larger, better equipped boats.

We are pleased to add a brand new Hanse 400 to the Cruising 40 fleet, Blue Sky. This high performance cruiser joins the two Bavaria 37s and the C&C38 to offer members the latest in comfort and handling.

In the Cruising 35 category we have added two identical brand new Beneteau 343s. This category also includes the two Beneteau 35s5s.

The two C&C 34s which were previously in the Cruising 35 category, join the two J-30s and the Olson 911 in the Cruising 30 membership. As part of the restructuring, the C&C 33s, Julia and Yellow Jacket, will retire from the fleet.

In addition to the brand new boats we have upgraded the Mid-Range fleet by replacing four of the older J-24s with newer ones.
